Product Review

I recently had a product reviewed on Wahmtastic, a great site that reviews products from WAHM online stores. It was great to have a satisfied customer/reviewer and would love to share her lovely review with everyone. The reviewer was lovely and I enjoyed being able to work with the colours she requested, chocolate and denim, what a great combination.

The above image was the end result of numerous email discussions and a few different draft designs to allow a good choice of styles and a few different options, as the reviewer had definite ideas about colours, but no set ideas on style, and I wanted to provide a range of ideas.

Below is the review posted on the website

Rachel from ScrapArt was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Her emails were friendly, polite and professional. I got a quick response to my emails every time! From the initial contact on 22/10/07, and the montage being received today 5/11/07, there was a two-week turn around (to the day). For the personalised ScrapArt Montage – I consider this very reasonable. The website was very easy to use, and flowed very well.I'd definitely buy from ScrapArt again!

With Christmas coming up I can see ScrapArt montages as the perfect gift. Its very personal too.

I immediately showed the montage to my sister in law, and it will be accompanying me to my mum’s group and playgroup this week.

I love it!

I'll recommend ScrapArt to my family and friends.I really like about my ScrapArt montage that it is so personal. It’s a personal reflection of you and the people important to you. It’s a new way of showing those pictures instead of sitting in an album or on a memory stick somewhere.

It's different and unique!

I have never seen a montage like this before. I am TRULY impressed with the quality of the montage. I would go so far as to say SUPERIOR quality. The print is on quality photo paper, the frame compliments the montage – it’s a truly superior product.I had the utmost privilege working with Rachel on my montage. She took the time to offer her opinions and advice, and was prepared to work with my suggestions also.

I am in love with my montage!

For over 2 months I have been working on and considering adding 2 new product ranges, personalised photo cards/invites and personalised photo calendars, so now we are but a few days away from launching both, our calendars are already online and our photocards will be online over the next week.

The range of personalised photo cards, including a great range of Christmas cards, New Year invites and children's birthday invites.

Just for a peek whilst I finish the design work over the next couple of days here is one of the Christmas card designs I have created and I will also be offering a great free bonus in November with 10 Free personalised Christmas cards for all purchases of $50 or more.

I must admit, I am having a lot of fun creating my Christmas card and invite designs, they are so much fun to create. I am looking forward to adding the new range to my website so keep watching for the full range.

The Downside to the Digital Age

The Courier Mail “We’re back in Print, Baby” article dated 3 October 2007 was one of the most interesting reads I have had lately, very relevant to my situation. It states that the children of this digital age may end up with no baby pictures. “There is a generation of people who grew up without having any photos featured in the family album."

Why? Australians have spent nearly $300 million dollars on digital cameras in the first half of 2007 according to the Canon Digital Lifestyle Index. There are now more Australians than ever before snapping digital photos across the world and the majority of these photos are of our children and our families, but what do they do with those photos?

In most cases, nothing! The one quote that impacted me the most was "People have to realise that it’s not a photo until it’s printed.”

Most of us love to display our treasured photos of our children and family in albums, frames or on the wall, but in this day and age, the majority of our photos sit on the computer. Many households have no idea how to go about printing digital photos – let alone doing anything else with them.

One thing the digital age has brought with it is a new breed of entrepreneurs. This is a breed that is not only technically savvy but creative as well.

This concept was one of the impetus' behind ScrapArt Designs, 6 months ago I found myself looking for baby photos of my daughter and realised that those we took on film cameras were molding in a box in the back of a cubpoard and those we took on digital cameras sat on our hardrives, the worst moment came when I realised that a whole 6 months of photos were lost as a result of failure to transfer the data acrosss from an old computer correctly.

So I decided I wanted to do more with my photos and realised that this was something I could do for others too, so I looked for ways to come to the rescue busy modern day parents, providing customised photo products, including Canvas's, Montages and Photobooks.

I also realised that I wanted more than just a photo on canvas, I wanted a complete piece of art with my photos. I wanted to provide customers with a product that showcases their children, family and weddings in a creative and unusual light and allows customers to have full input into the ideas and a one-stop-shop that lets someone else do the creative work and provides a finished product.”

So now there is no excuse to being one of Australia’s digital camera owners with no photos of your children to be seen. For more information you can visit my products page for our range of designs and styles available.

Welcome to my blog. I am owner and creator of ScrapArt Designs, a business started initially from a hobby and developed into a business to allow me to share my passion and love of creating beautiful ways to display photos.

We provide a service creating decorative photo and canvas montages in a huge range of styles, sizes and options, photobooks, DVD slide shows and traditional scrapbooking for hire services.

Our service is a great cross between simple photo products and digital scrapbooking.

I took my hobby for scrapbooking, digital and traditional, and decided to turn it into a business after an experience I never want to repeat again. My grandmother reached a point where she need constant care earlier this year and was moved into a nursing facility, to assist her in remembering her family, my mother wanted to create a photo frame displaying all the main family photos, photos of grandma and grandad at their 50th wedding celebration, and include the grandchildren in a small format.

What a nightmare that was, my mother bought one of those old style precut frames. As you can imagine, we then had to find photos that fit the size and orientation of the precut frame and I can tell you this was not easy. We spent hours finding the 'right' photos, cropping them to fit the frames and playing with them to get them right so they could fit. Then we had to find ways to put the smaller photos and names onto the frames and the end result, whilst acceptable wasn't particularly attractive.

So that's when I realised that my hobby could be so much more, I could create the same idea digitally and create something so much more appealing, flexible and attractive. Hence 'ScrapArt Designs' was born. So come over to http://www.scrapart.com.au/ and have a look at what can be done with a little creativity and great digital software.
